All the best, Vanessa
I'm a mother, so Vanessa's music is a little young for me, but I came to this website to have a look at her new image. She's impressive! What an awesome transformation! My daughter wants this album, and I'll definitely be buying it for her. I never, NEVER thought that in my lifetime I'd see a rockin', tattooed chick at number one. Most female singers, no matter how good they are, are expected to be commercially cute, but Vanessa is the perfect young girl to bring pop into a new era. This a girl making music for other girls and not for teenage boys. She's going to be HUGE. Normally I'm a reggae fan because the black women of reggae are strong willed women in control of their own desires. Vanessa is the first white woman I've seen in a long, long time who has the same guts as these female masters. I don't believe in role models, but every girl wants music that speaks their mind, and no girl is going to be embarrassed to be caught listening to this. Without the tattoos, Vanessa would have just been another wannabe cash-in, but with her tuff artwork, she's the real deal. This music will define pop for the next era, and inspire many copy-cats. Fame is difficult, and I hope this artist won't later cave into pressure to show more traditionally feminine attributes. Because if she can stay strong, fifty years from now, she'll be remembered as one of the timeless greats.
